American Associate for Clinical Chemistry (AACC)
Jul 27 - 31, 2008
Washington, DC
Washington Convention Center
Attend Nanogen's workshop at the AACC meeting to hear Dr. Aaron Baggish and Dr. Alan Wu discuss CPOCT in the ED and alternate sites:
"CPOCT - in the ED and Alternate Sites: Are We Ready for It; Is It Ready for Us?"
Cardiology Consensus groups mandate that turn-around-time (TAT) for Cardiac Markers be less than 60 minutes. Given the "vein to brain" concept, less than 45 minutes is the goal. Despite laboratory efforts, a TAT of less than one hour is nearly impossible. Are we ready for CPOCT - data management, QC, cost containment? Is CPOCT ready for us - evidence based outcomes, technological maturity, accurate results, reasonable price? At the conclusion, participants will understand:
- Medical literature demonstrating outcomes of CPOCT
- The pivotal role the lab plays in CPOCT
- The true cost/benefits of implementing CPOCT
- How on the spot results integrate into real time decision making processes
